In something of a departure from previous Jerusalem Shows, Jerusalem Show IX was a research-based project that took the practices and means of delving into, investigating and generating new and different knowledge(s) as its premise. With a point of view in mind that tired narratives lead to tired thinking and frozen imagining, Jerusalem Show IX was a contribution to attempts “to pen the manuscript anew”, and to ways of pointing towards new possibilities and new paradigms, which may open up more options and avenues of action – both material, practical and immaterial.

We are not seeking a show that fills Jerusalem with art and strips it later. Some of the works considered may materialise another time. Some may concretise by involving other spaces. Learning from the materiality of art and dreams, this research-based edition will question Jerusalem’s where, how, and when.” (from the Curatorial Statement)
